Activities for USSSA Tournament Attendees
You’re in town for a tournament at the USSSA Space Coast Complex, and when you’re not at fields, it’s time to break away from the tournaments and have some fun. With any sporting tournament comes days and times where the teams are waiting for their designated slot to play, so we thought we would highlight a few activities to take advantage of if you are coming to the area for one the tournaments.
1. Spend Time at the Beach
Florida’s Space Coast is home to 72 miles of beaches with plenty of beach options. From secluded beaches to family-friendly ones, your team will love to get their toes sandy and make memories on the Space Coast. Cocoa Beach is about 25 minutes from the stadium and is home to Ron Jon Surf Shop where you can get all your beach gear including swimsuits, boogie boards and sunscreen.
2. Adventure HQ/The Backyard/321 Escape
Get out of the heat and cool off inside at this unique three-in-one action-packed experience. There are themed escape rooms, bouldering and ninja courses. Plus, The Backyard has shuffleboard courts, bocce ball courts and pool tables. There is something for everyone to enjoy, even if it’s grabbing a bite to eat and playing games.
3. Brevard Zoo
With adventures ranging from giraffe feedings to rhino encounters to paddle boat and kayak tours and a train ride taking you to Cairo, to name a few, you’ll have plenty of options to see and experience the wide array of animals the zoo has to offer.
4. Treetop Trek
Treetop Trek joined Brevard Zoo in 2011 and offers a self-guided zip-line tour through the zoo. With adventures available for as young as four years old to beginner, immediate, and expert challenge courses, this is a great way to get play, but also an opportunity to use critical thinking skills with the different challenges that are offered throughout the courses.
5. The Dinosaur Store & Museum
This isn’t your typical fossil store. The Museum of Dinosaurs & Ancient Cultures at The Dinosaur Store gives you the opportunity to explore the prehistoric age to King Tut’s tomb and ancient Egypt, as well as dinosaur models. There is also an interactive adventure zone that transforms you into an archaeologist for the day with fossil digs and has you braving the rapids of the Nile River without you even getting wet.
6. Exploration Tower
Take in a beautiful panoramic view of Port Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center as you enjoy seven stories of interactive exhibits. With simulated boat tours, to watching rocket launches, and even getting to tour an old lighthouse at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, you will get a wealth of knowledge about Central Florida’s rich history and what makes the Florida’s Space Coast such a unique place.
7. Lighthouse Cove
Lighthouse Cove is a beach-themed, 36-hole miniature golf course that features boats, waterfalls, caves, and larger-than-life sea creatures. Take a break between courses and enjoy one or more of their 24 flavors of ice cream or hand-spun milkshakes.
8. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
No trip to the Space Coast is complete without a trip to Kennedy Space Center. See where America’s space exploration began while touring interactive exhibits, simulators and much more.
